Basketball

Basketball is a highly technical and extremely exciting sport for both participants and spectators. Basketball is a team sport which involves 10 players, 5 players in each side.
Length of the game is four 10-minute quarters. There is a 2 minute break between the 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th quarters, with a 15 minutes break at half time. Any overtime periods are 5 minutes.

Each team tries to score by shooting a ball through the top of a basketball hoop while following a set of rules.  The game is played on a rectangular floor which is called a court. The court has divided in to two sections and there is one hoop in each section which each team needs to shoot in to opponent hoop to get a score.
There are two types of scoring rule in basketball which are two points and three points, if the player is shooting the ball through the hoop from close distance is two points score and if the player is shooting from three points line the score will count on three points.  Each team with the highest point is the winner of the game. Basketball is one of the world’s most popular viewed sports.
Basketball in my opinion is one of the best things I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun. One reason I love basketball is because you need only yourself to play the game or, you can play with teammates. One thing I love about basketball is that people have many different styles of play. There are styles such as a passer, playmaker, shooter, defensive player, and dunker or highflyer. Playing Basketball is very entertaining since there are endless ideas you can think of just with a hoop and a basketball.

Basketball is a great way to get your mind off things and is also a great way to express yourself. It is a sport that can work your whole body. It’s a great pastime for any one and is a great way to bond with family members and friends.
Now lets watch the greatest moments in basketball:

Swimming

I always had a deep connection with the water. There’s just something about the water- holding your breath and diving deep down under it and just letting it surround you and support you- that makes me feel so peaceful.  No matter what’s going on in my life, whatever stresses I'm feeling, whatever's on my mind, goes away for just a split second when I'm holding my breath under water.  Everything is silent and it’s just you and the water.Swimming is one of my favorite activities. Whenever I am in a swimming pool, I always swim the freestyle and breaststroke.  I swim at my own pace as a way to relax.  Swimming is also one of my favorite events to watch at the Olympics.

Types of Swimming Strokes

There are numbers of different swimming styles that each swimmer based on own position to water will indicate the appropriate style.  We have called these styles as strokes.
There are four different types of strokes that most swimmers use, which are:
1. Breaststroke
2. Butterfly
3. Front Crawl
4. Backstroke

1.Breaststroke
In Breaststroke the swimmer is on his or her chest while the upper body does not rotate. Breaststroke is the most popular fun style since the swimmer has ability to keep the head out of the water for large amount of time. In the swimming competitions the breaststroke is the slowest certified stroke.

2.Butterfly

In Butterfly the swimmer is on the breast with both arms moving all together. The butterfly stroke is more difficult which needs good techniques to be useful. It is also requires more energy and strength compare to other strokes.

3. Front Crawl

Front Crawl which also called Australian Crawl or American Crawl is the fastest strokes compare to other 3 strokes however it is difficult to find a good breathing point. In the front crawl body is to the water surface with hips and legs behind the shoulders at all times. The leg is moving up and down at all times. Arms following each other through and over the top of water.
4. Backstroke

The Backstroke is like an upside down version of front crawl. There are an advantage and disadvantage with this style. The advantage of this style is swimmers can easily breathe during swimming and in other hand the disadvantage of this style is that swimmers are not able to see where they are going.

RUGBY

Rugby- watch or play
It the rugby world cup, there’s nothing like a world competition to get a country to unite and get behind their team. Flags of all nations hang, or are printed on t-shirts, houses, cars, faces, coasters, mugs, computer screens and in some extreme cases, tattooed onto people and shaved into their hair. Anything and everything is done to show allegiance to their country and to feel like a part of the team.
Watch a game with anyone who is passionate about rugby and you will find out how intense a game can be and also how potentially deafening. Supporters turn into coaches and yell criticism and support as they scream at their TV’s to ‘Run son’ or ‘tackle him!’
Watching, the games look violent; there is rarely a game where a player isn’t sent off the field for an injury or a player with blood dripping off their face. This would be enough to deter any sane minded person from playing. There’s more than the violence to this game though. In order to play well, you need to be able to think quickly, work as a team and have fast reflexes and a strong stamina and endurance.
Playing for girl’s rugby is a bit different than the guy’s teams. There’s a lot less media involved and some of the rules are different, for example girls don’t push in a scrum (yes you do “engage” but then you squat there looking like fools as you ruck the ball back). Just because it’s a girls game doesn’t mean it isn’t just as violent; girls are still sent off the field bleeding or with something broken or sprained. Just like when you watch there is the unity as you pull on your team colours and run onto the field at the beginning of a game. Of course it doesn’t hurt to win at the end either.

Fistball

Fistball is such a very old sport which was referenced in the text in 240 by Roman Emperor Gordian III. The aim of this sport is hitting to ball over the net to the opponent’s field. It is quite similar to tennis and volleyball. It now is a part of the World’s Game. The world championship is held every 4 years.

A fistball team has to have 5 players playing on the field which is 20mx50m. It is usually the grass field which is divided by a central line. Above the central line, 2m wide net is strung across the field.

Fistball players have to hit the ball with fists or arms. The ball is allowed to bounce once on the field like tennis before being hit back. The team reaching 11 points first will win the set. A match is exercised 5 sets and the team reach 3 set first will win the match.

Bossaball

What is bossaball?
Bossaball is a sport invented in Spain which combines many other sports such as volleyball, soccer, gymnastics and capoeira. The two most famous selection teams come from Spain and Brazil.
A combination of trampolines and inflatables is used to create a bossaball court. The court is divided into half by a net standing in the middle. It takes about 45 minutes to set up the court and be ready to play.

How to play?
The number of players in each team is from 3 to 5. In order to score, the ball has to be land on the court of the opponent. Each team can contact the ball maximum 8 times on its own court before returning it to the opposite side. These contacts can be exercised by any part of the body. However, players can touch maximum once with their hands, twice with the feet or heads.
What is the score?
The team lands the ball on the opponent’s inflatables gets 1 point. Scoring on the trampoline gets 3 points. Hitting the rings around the trampolines does not count a score and the rally continues.

The team scored can serve the ball. If the team serves and scores the point, the player who served the previous ball has to serve the next ball. If they do not score and the position of players on the field have to be rotated clockwise. The team scores 25 points first will win the set. There are 3 sets in one match. Winning 2 sets continuously means winning the match.

Why Run?

Why Run?
Being a good ten years since I ran competitively it is interesting to say I can still remember the feeling of strained anticipation that courses through your body as you await the starter gun to blow. I remember the fright as it goes ‘bang’ that shakes you and your competition off the starting line and the smell of the gun powder. Running isn’t just about your physical fitness, there’s a certain psychology  to running that allows your mind to battle with your body to go just that little bit faster than your legs think are capable. Will power is the tool that allows you to really revel in the sport. You don’t have to run against competitors to experience this.  Set yourself a distance or set a goal for a length of time or distance in a time and you will find out just how important your will power is for yourself.

Seeing as I was writing about running I thought I’d give it a try and dug out my shorts and sadly neglected Asics. Having been a sprinter it is funny to say that long distance is totally different and yet the same. Your techniques are worlds apart yet you have the same mental struggle, the fire in your chest and legs (the reason you wonder why people run in the first place)… and the feeling as your second wind kicks in. your pain is gone and the adrenaline pumping through you is one so enlivening I’m sad to say I ever abandoned it.
If you have ever run, started but given up or even thought about it I challenge you to push to that second wind.

Basic Golf Techniques

Golf technique
First, you need to hold golf grip in a correct way
There are there types of golf grip
The first one is Interlocking grip
This is a very popular golf grip, the little finger of right hand interlock with the index finger of left hand

Second is Vardon grip which is a low-handicap golf grip, the little finger of right hand reset between the index finger and the second finger if right hand.

Third is Baseball grip is an ideal golf grip for junior golf player. hands side by side without linking  but this one is easy to hurt yourself.

i think the first type interlocking grip is the best way. i played golf before and in my experience, it is better than the other grips.

Steps :
  • Stand up, let your arms hanging naturally by your sides, your hands and palms turning slightly towards your thighs. This is the set up position.
  • Form your golf grip
  • Check your set-up position
  • put pressure on your grip

Soccer

What is Soccer?
Soccer is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with round ball. The game is played on a rectangular field of grass or green artificial turf, with a goal in the middle of each of the short ends. The purpose of the game is to score driving the ball into the opposing goal. Goal keepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with their hands or arms whereas the field players typically use their feet to kick the ball into position, sometimes using their torso or head to intercept a ball in midair.
The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game goes into extra time and/or a penalty shootout, depending on the format of the competition.
Laws of the Game
The Laws of the Game were originally arranged in England by the Football Association in 1863 and have evolved since then. Association soccer is governed internationally by FIFA, which organizes the FIFA World Cup every four years.

Formation In soccer
A formation describes how the players in a soccer team are positioned on the field. Different formations may be used depending on the skill of your opponents but also if your team wants to play more attacking or defensive soccer.
The most common soccer formations are list as per below:

The 4-4-2

The 4-3-3 Flat

The 3-4-3 Flat

The 3-6-1

The 3-4-2-1

The 4-5-1

The 5-2-2-1

The 4-3-3 Triangular Midfield
Soccer is one of my favorite sports which I play every weekend. It is how I keep fit and it keeps me working hard in all aspects of life. Being part of a team has given me a good group of companions with whom I grow and improve.

Dropping in

There is something quite terrifying as you lean over the top of your deck (your skateboard) to the awaiting pipe below. Being an extreme amateur myself I can assure you it takes a lot more courage than you think. Watching people who know how to skate, you would expect it to be as simple as breathing. There is a total calmness to their face and not even the slightest hesitation as they gracefully glide down the pipe. I stepped up to the edge and was fine…until I leaned over. What was a 1 and a half metre high drop now looks like 10 and the deck under your feet just a flimsy bit of board between you and the concrete. Having just had four teeth out this week, I can tell you I chickened out at the thought of losing a couple extra. After questioning a skater about the technique of dropping in I was told “just put your foot on the front of your deck, lean over and fall.” I’m sure after I’ve learnt some more basics I’ll find the courage to attempt it and eventually do it without thinking. Until then I’ll stick to flat and slightly sloping surfaces.
... its a lot scarier than it looks. unless your fearless like my daughter

Chess boxing

Chess boxing was a sport invented in 2003 by a Dutch artist named Iepe Rubingh. The idea is to combine the number one intellectual sport and the number one fighting sport into a hybrid one. In order to win the match, the competitors have to satisfy both mental and physical demands.

How to play?
In a chess boxing match, 2 opponents play alternating rounds of chess and followed by boxing round. After boxing round, another round of chess has to be exercised and so on. The contest has 11 rounds which are 6 rounds of chess and 5 rounds of boxing.  The match starts with the chess round first. A chess round takes 4 minutes. Each competitor has a total time of 12 minutes for thinking. A boxing round takes 3 minutes. Between chess and boxing round, there is 1 minute of pause. During this pause, the competitors put on or take off their gears to prepare for the next round.
How to win?
The contest is decided by:
-          Checkmate (chess round)
-          Exceeding the time of thinking (12 minutes) (chess round)
-          Retirement of an opponent (chess + boxing round)
-          KO (Knock out) (boxing round)
-          Referee decision (boxing round)
-          If the chess game ends in stalemate, the opponent with higher score in boxing rounds will win. If the score of 2 competitors in boxing rounds is equal, the opponent with black pieces will win.
